CC and Commons

I had been to the CC Korea Conference 2008. Prof. Lessig delivered his keynote somewhat slowly, maybe considering the translator and Korean audience. The sessions in business & art track were quite impressive in general. Among them, followings were the best messages for me.

  • CC mixer Korea - freely remix musics
  • loftwork - CCL for designers can make money, from Japan
  • Jon Phillips - Share or Die.
  • Project Randomwalks - Sharing the process and moment of creation
On the other way, people who are taking CCL from a profit-making point of view seemed somewhat limited in their way of thinking.  Some of them seemed that they did not have full understanding of the commons. People tend to act too early and this makes the difference in the end.

LIFT Asia '08

LIFT08

The Date was settled according to Laurent Haug's blog.
It will be held on 4 and 5 September this year.

I guess the event will be held either at Jeju or Seoul. Last September Jeju was mentioned as the promising place for the event. Nevertheless, considering the accessibility there especially for people from outside Korea, Seoul seems more reasonable.

Just update your calendar for this event. I believe it's a must.

CC Korea Conference(K)

David Pogue on iphone

iphone fever.

Despite some suspicious outlooks on the success of iphone, the general public seem crazy about this gadget. Yeah, I can imagine that for it's simply an apple.

pros - powerful OS, great interface(Intuitive GUI, haptic interface, Big screen, ...), great applications, WiFi,
cons - slow EDGE network, AT&T-only, small storage(4G,8G), inexchangable battery,

LEGO enters MMO gaming world

LEGO, all time favorite toy of my childhood, seems to be pioneering its own future arenas with very well-made strategies.

LEGO Factory showed how to smartly utilize and collaborate with the passion of its crowds. Mindstorm showed how to expand the user range by age and how to digg the next huge item, robotics. Microsoft is also trying to preoccupy the robotics platform as they did for PC by Windows. But, the situation around MS seems somewhat unfavorable compared to that of 80s. Most of all, the users are well experienced the MS empire for the last two decades, so they would not easily surrender to MS's ambition.

According to
Kotaku, LEGO is entering MMO world partnering with NetDevil.

Lego MMO Revealed

LEGGO MY LEGO MMO

"As children around the world continue to spend more time online we are developing new and engaging ways for them to interact with our brand," said Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, Executive Vice President, Community, Education and Direct Division LEGO Group. "The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving -- values that compliment the MMOG market. By merging the online world of social interaction with physical play, the LEGO brand is providing new experiences for children, as well as fans. NetDevil's technological capability, openness to work with a large community, and their enthusiasm for the LEGO brand made them a natural partner."

"Playing with LEGO bricks and developing online worlds are both creative activities. To bring them together is deeply professionally satisfying and we look forward to working with the LEGO team," said Scott Brown, President of NetDevil.
